My ‘vintage pasta’ pattern is inspired by the world of colours and sweet flavours at my great grandmother’s summer house. My Slovenian nonna was born close to Italian border, a place where Slavic and Italian culture intertwine. It was here that we used to spend holiday with her in the 80s. From her kindness and openness to ways of baking and dressing, along with her melodic dialect of speech – for me as a child it was a wonderful world that was curiously foreign and warmly familiar at the same time.
